The Lowe’s Foundation donated $500,000 to Metallica’s All Within My Hands foundation and Scholars initiative to expand its support of vocational training for community college students.

The donation will fund training, equipment and recruitment at five community colleges across the country, the company says.

“Partnering with programs like the Metallica Scholars Initiative is key to the Lowe’s Foundation’s efforts to ensure the next generation of builders can meet the demands of our modern world,” Lowe’s Foundation Chair Janice Dupré said in a statement.

The donation is part of Lowe’s Foundation’s five-year, $50 million commitment to support training 50,000 people for skilled trades careers.
