Construction and design software provider Houzz recently announced five business trends they expect to impact professionals in 2026. They are as follows:
- Artificial intelligence will become a core part of construction professionals’ day-to-day work. More than a third of professionals (34%) are using AI in their businesses, according to the Houzz State of AI in Construction & Design report.
- Construction and design professionals often feel stretched thin due to office tasks, bidding, client management and their actual work, according to the Q4 2025 Houzz U.S. Renovation Barometer. Burnout levels are predicted to be a driving factor in process improvements and improved project management solutions in 2026.
- Remodelers and designers will be able to differentiate their businesses by implementing better client communication, according to Houzz’s What Homeowners Want study. A third of homeowners said their biggest challenge when remodeling is receiving clear estimates and timely communication. Forty-one percent of homeowners said a clear project timeline would have improved their experience.
- Remodelers and designers will need to bolster their operations with more structure and transparency as delays, costs and client expectations continue to create uncertainty.
- Miscommunication between trades will remain major pain points if firms don’t upgrade their project management technologies. Forty-two percent of firms plan to update their project-management and AI-enabled tools in 2026, according to the Q4 2025 Houzz U.S. Renovation Barometer. Additionally, 86% plan to change how they run their businesses.
